Contemporary Desert Photography: The Other Side of Paradise

This exhibition features work by 26 American photographers recently purchased for the Art Museum's permanent collection. Selected from works from the major exhibition of the same name as last year, the Art Museum was able to acquire this group of works using funds from the sale of deaccessioned art that was no longer relevant to the Art Museum's collection goals.

In response to the exhibition Beyond Borders: Mexican Art Inspires 20th-Century Art, artists' installation examining Day of the Dead infuse pop culture and Mexican iconography with the fluency of contemporary art. Installations consider the built environment, kitsch perspectives, art's social usefulness in new terms and how cultural ideas and objects get (mis)translated.

ANNENBERG THEATER
Kyle Eastwood
.

Kyle Eastwood's first memories of music are of jazz. It was the only music he listened to for the first ten years of his life, thanks to his father Clint Eastwood's lifelong appreciation to the genre. The two attended the Monterey Jazz Festival regularly as Kyle was growing up, and there was something magnetic about watching Clint play piano at home, that completely captivated young Kyle.

It was while sudying film at USC that Eastwood realized that music, and more precisely jazz, was his true passion. Having dabbled on the electric bass as a teeneager, he now plays the upright, acoustic and double bass.

Well established on the Paris jazz scene, Eastwood lives between New Yor, LA, London and Paris. Eastwood recently released his secon CD, Paris Blue.
