Palm Valley Country Club Golf Updates

TURF TALK

The greens on the Championship course are continuing to fill in and recover from the aerification. The 10th green is taking longer to recover due to the morning shade created by the surrounding palm trees and ficus trees.

The idea of cutting a temporary green during this process was considered.. This was not done due to the fact the green has begun to aggressively grow as well as, the temporary green would take time to become playable. The limited foot traffic from play at this time will not hinder the Bermuda Grass growth. Therefore the temporary green was not cut.

With the greens recovering the mowing heights have been lowered back to 1/8” and will remain there for the summer. Topdressing will continue on an as needed basis going forward to control thatch and aid in ball roll.

The greens expansion is under way and will continue for most of the summer. The actual green cut has been put in and is turning yellow due to scalping. The yellow areas will recover and turn green over time. There will be an aggressive top-dress and fertilizer program during this process.

We like to thank you for your patience with this process. The course conditions are updated frequently at the Golf Shop.
