The 10th green is taking longer to recover due to the morning shade created by the surrounding palm trees and ficus trees.

The idea of cutting a temporary green during this process was considered.. This was not done due to the fact the green has begun to aggressively grow as well as, the temporary green would take time to become playable. The limited foot traffic from play at this time will not hinder the Bermuda Grass growth. Therefore the temporary green was not cut.

With the greens recovering the mowing heights have been lowered back to 1/8” and will remain there for the summer. Topdressing will continue on an as needed basis going forward to control thatch and aid in ball roll.

The greens expansion is under way and will continue for most of the summer. The actual green cut has been put in and is turning yellow due to scalping. The yellow areas will recover and turn green over time. There will be an aggressive top-dress and fertilizer program during this process.

We like to thank you for your patience with this process. The course conditions are updated frequently at the Golf Shop.
FOOD for THOUGHT

Our Summer Saturday Night Themed Dinners are back!

Please join us for the

South of the Boarder

June 21st Main Dining Room

We will be holding the dinners once a month!

We look forward to seeing everyone there.

California Travel Blog - California Wildflowers 2008 | Places to See in California | Things to Do in California | Cities | Beaches | Deserts

Wildflowers are blooming all over southern California this year thanks to some rain! Vacation rentals / condos make sense for those who are traveling together like: golf buddies, couples, families. Renting a 2 or 3 bedroom condo makes more sense and is economical compared to cramming into a hotel room or renting more than one room, and of course eating every meal out and paying $2.00 for every water and $5 for every coffee. Instead, you can enjoy the cool and uncrowded private collection which includes leaders in American painting. You may not be able to afford a trip to Europe's Louvre, but surely you can swing one out the Palm Springs this summer!

From this weeks Palm Springs Art Museum Newsletter:
"From Degas to De Kooning: Impressionist and Modern Masters at the Palm Springs Art Museum This Summer!

From June 15 through September 3, the Palm Springs Art Museum is privileged to once again present during the summer season a selection of outstanding Impressionist and Modern paintings on loan from a private collection. Many of these works have graced the galleries during earlier summers, but this year a very special addition has been made to the works on view, masterpieces by Mark Rothko and Willem de Kooning, two of the leading figures in the New York School of Abstract Expressionism that developed in the late 1940s and catapulted American painting to international prominence. These outstanding works will be seen with eleven other paintings ranging from Impressionist studies of light and atmosphere by Edouard Manet, Edgar Degas, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, to modernist essays in expressive color and form by Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso, to the contrasts of realism and abstraction in contemporary works by Wayne Thiebaud and Joan Mitchell.

THIS EXTRAORDINARY COLLECTION IS ON LOAN TO THE MUSEUM BY AN ANONYMOUS COLLECTOR, COURTESY OF HEATHER JAMES ART & ANTIQUITIES."

Jeep Tours in the California Desert

The post below is reprinted from the Desert Adventures 4/9/07 email newsletter. It was the only music he listened to for the first ten years of his life, thanks to his father Clint Eastwood's lifelong appreciation to the genre. The two attended the Monterey Jazz Festival regularly as Kyle was growing up, and there was something magnetic about watching Clint play piano at home, that completely captivated young Kyle.

It was while sudying film at USC that Eastwood realized that music, and more precisely jazz, was his true passion. Having dabbled on the electric bass as a teeneager, he now plays the upright, acoustic and double bass.

Well established on the Paris jazz scene, Eastwood lives between New Yor, LA, London and Paris. Eastwood recently released his secon CD, Paris Blue.
         2006-2007 Annenberg Theater Season

October 20, 2006
8 p.m.
Fitz's Intimate Nights at the Annenberg
with Kyle Eastwood

November 5, 2006
6 p.m.
k.d. lang - S O L D - - O U T !

November 18, 2006
8 p.m.
Fitz's Intimate Nights at the Annenberg
with David Pack

November 19, 2006
4 p.m.
Eugenia Zuckerman

December 1, 2006
8 p.m.
Fitz's Intimate Nights at the Annenberg
with Karrin Allyson

December 3, 2006
3 p.m.
Palm Springs Opera Guild of the Desert Vocal Competition

January 31, 2007
8 p.m.
Lorna Luft

February 15, 2007
6 p.m.
Showcase of the Desert - Showcase 31

March 6, 2007
Kate Clinton
8 p.m.

March 7, 2007
Fitz's Intimate Nights at the Annenberg
with Eldar

8 p.m.
Davis Gaines

April 18, 2007
8 p.m.
Norm Crosby

April 22, 2007
4 p.m.
Miro Quartet

April 29, 2007
Perlman Schmidt Bailey Trio

Many additional shows choose the Annenberg stage as the perfect venue to host their productions. I usually just suck it up and drive 2 hours out and back from Orange County. Not last week!

I decided to go out the night before, and being frugal...I decided to try Priceline for the first time ever. I'd always been afraid to use the service because too much was at stake when my trips involved airplanes and vacations. For one night though? In an area I know? Why Not?

My Priceline experience was great. I took a look at what they had in their inventory. Spent a few minutes researching the hotels and then decided they were still a little more than it was worth to me to spend the night (I put a $100 value on not having to drive it all in one day). I then saw the "name your price" feature and took a gamble: 3 stars in Indian Wells or Palm Desert for $50. They booked the Indian Wells Resort hotel for me at that rate, plus tax, with a continental breakfast included. It was only 10 minutes from my ultimate destination.

Upon arrival on a weekday evening the staff was efficient and curteous. The lobby was clean, inviting, and felt a bit luxurious for $50. Checkin was fine, EXCEPT I needed to pay a $16 "resort fee." I know these are not optional, but didn't see this disclosed anywhere with Priceline. I didn't choose to question the charge, because I already felt like I was getting a tremendous value.

For that $16 I was able to enjoy some appetizers in the bar before dinner time (plus and excellent Cosmo for a reasonable charge); an oatmeal breakfast and fresh coffee in the morning. Had I had time, it would have also given me access and transport to the private Indian Wells Country Club, home of the Bob Hope Classic, and at the Golf Resort at Indian Wells, named one of the 10 best golf courses in CA.

The Indian Wells Resort seemed a bit dated and confused: was it art deco or romanesque? My room was spacious, comfortable, and had free wireless internet, but it smelled a bit odd (either residual smoke at this non smoking hotel or mildew), but had been updated.
All in all, a 3 star accomodation, at a 1 star price! Not bad ;)

La Quinta's History Uncovered and Explained

There was a time when I, like most who hadn't spent any time in the desert cities of southern California, only knew of Palm Springs. I also just referred to the whole area as "Palm Springs." It is only clear to the repeat visitor and resident that there are very distinct cities "out there in the desert" and that they actually come with a rich history and flavor.

La Quinta is receiving it's own history book of sorts and it may be worth a read.

It seems La Quinta has always been a place to rejuvenate. Here I thought it was just me who discovered that it has good restaurants and affordable basic shopping (Target and Lowes).

"A resort brochure from the early years notes that when Southern California was Spanish territory travelers on horseback or in covered wagons often would spend four days roughing it through the desert before stopping at sites that were designated resting places for the fifth day.

"La quinta" is Spanish for "the fifth."

"On this day, the journey would end early and good food, music, dancing and wine would give the weary traveler his much needed relaxation," the brochure reads. It is unclear whether the site of the resort was one of those resting places, the promotional leaflet says."

Learn more about the history of La Quinta in the article link below:PE.com | Inland Southern California | Inland News
